Ringworm is a skin problem that is caused by a type of fungus. That type of fungus is called tinea. It survives on a dead skin of your body. It can take the shape of a ring or circle, so it is called ringworm. Red, scaly, itchy spot are the symptoms of ringworm. It may appear on any part of the body. How to prevent ringworm

Slice a papaya piece and rub on the ringworm-infected area to cure the infection effectively. Do it thrice a day for good results.

You can also use papaya seed powder as a ringworm remedy. Sun dry the papaya seeds and grind them to make papaya seed powder. Mix the powder with little amount of water to make a paste and apply it on the affected area to heal ringworm infection.


Combine 1tsp. of turmeric powder with 1tsp honey to make a paste. External application of this paste can exert antibacterial effects on the skin infection and cure ringworm infection. Another way to use turmeric and honey is in juice form. Mix the turmeric and honey in warm water and drink it once in the morning to reap excellent health benefits.

Coconut oil

With regular application of coconut oil, you can eradicate fungal infections and the redness on the skin. Rub this oil twice a day until the affected area heals. Coconut oil also nourishes your skin and makes it strong to withstand external infections.

Carrot juice

Blend carrot and spinach to make a juice and drink it twice daily to boost immunity and get healthy skin. Continue consumption of this juice until you cure ringworm infection.

Aloe Vera

Rub aloe vera gel on the fungal infected area to stimulate antimicrobial action and get rid of itchy inflammation on skin. Repeat the process for three times a day until you heal the infection.

Maintaining simple hygiene

  • Keep your towels, bed sheets, pillowcases and clothes clean. Use hot water to wash them.
  • Pat your skin dry after bath.
  • Consume plenty of vegetables and drink lots of water. Make sure to avoid wheat foods and sugar.
  • Wear comfortable clothes because they might increase itching.
  • Don’t share towels, soap and clothes with others.

When you are suffering from ringworm, you have to keep the skin clean. Rinse the infected area of your body with soap and warm water. You have to do it once or twice in a day. Always wash the affected skin with soap and water before using any other home remedy. You can also try antibacterial soap in your daily bath.   

Licorice root powder

Licorice root powder is used in food and medicines. It consists of many compounds that have been proven beneficial for health. It has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties that help you to throw away fungal infections from your affected skin. For performing this remedy boil a cup of water and add 6 tbsp of licorice root powder in it. Boil it for 20 minutes. Let it cool for some time. Spray this solution on the ringworm infected skin. For better results do this at least thrice in a day. It surely helps you to get rid of ringworm.

Oregano oil

Oregano oil has been proven the best for its healing power. It has two active antibacterial agents that are carvacrol and thymol. They fight with many types of microbial infection. It can stop the growth of fungus and get rid of ringworm. Mix 8 drops of oregano oil with 1 tbsp of carrier oil. Store this solution in a glass jar. Massage on the infected skin with this solution at least three times in a day. OR repeat it after every 5 hours. You will see a difference within three days. OR you can also apply oregano oil on the infected area of ringworm. Do this twice or thrice times in a day.

Neem leaves

Neem tree is also known as Indian lilac. It is loaded in antiseptic and antifungal properties. These properties help to treat the skin infection and ringworm of your body. It helps you to remove the fungus infection from ringworm and give you quick relief. For making this remedy, you have to take neem oil, neem leaves, turmeric powder, and sesame oil. Apply neem oil on the infected area of skin. Do this twice or thrice times in a day until the infection clears. OR mix equal part of neem leaves paste and turmeric powder with sesame oil and apply it on the ringworm area. Allow it to sit for next 1 hour then wash it off with lukewarm water. Do it twice in a day until ringworm has cleared.

Iodine tincture

Iodine kills the fungus infection of ringworm due to its antifungal and antiseptic properties. For performing this, you will need only 2 percent of iodine solution and cotton ball. You can easily find iodine solution in any drug store. Dip a cotton ball in 2 percent iodine solution. Dab this solution on the infected area of skin. For better result do it twice or thrice times in a day for a week.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is safe for your skin, and it is one of the best remedies for ringworm. This oil used for the treatment of skin infections. For making this remedy you need jojoba oil, lavender oil, and a cotton ball. Take a small bowl and mix one tsp of jojoba oil with two drops of lavender oil. Mix them well. Now you need to take a cotton ball and soak it in this mixture and apply it directly to the infected skin. Gently massage it. Follow this process three to four times daily until the ringworm is gone.

Nail polish

Nail polish closed the pores of infection so the fungus will die. Dip a brush in clear, transparent nail polish. Apply it on the surface of ringworm. It will suffocate the fungus. Keep it for 10 to 12 hours. Wash it off with clean water. Repeat this for a few days, until the ringworm is gone. It is a cheaper remedy as compared to other home remedies.
